Earlier around 8, there was pot of hot cooking oil, that I had just got turned off and like a dumb ass, I turned the handle in the toward me, instead of way. My little brother had came home from playing basketball, then he went to the kitchen to eat. All of sudden, I heard screaming—more like cries. Then I had realized that he got burned by the grease. It was oil everywhere. He was panicking, chanting ” OH MY GOD! THIS HURTS SO BAD! MAKE THE PAIN GO AWAY!” Over, and over, and over again. My mom had rushed down stairs, to see her son running in terror and pain. He stood in the shower, running cold water, but from his cries, they were no help. My mom and I, were still in shock. I called 9-1-1, but the operator couldn’t hear. So, we grabbed the keys and sped to the hospital. Once we were all situated, I looked back at Decquan. The look on his face was a mixture between terror and pain. My heart dropped. On the way there, he started a new chant. “OH MY GOSH! WHY DID I DO THAT? WHY DID THIS HAVE TO ME! MAKE THE PAIN STOP!” His words brought chills down my spine, then we pulled up to the entrance to the ER. He was the first one attended, before all the other people who seem like they were waiting there for hours. His cries in agony begun to get worse once the nurse started to do her job. Eventually, the doctors came in and put his IV in him. That was the worse part for me. The were putting different types of pain medication in him every other minute. The doctors soon explained to my mom that he had to be transported him to the burn unit (45 minutes away) and we have yet hear about his condition (don’t worry, my older brother’s with him). I finally came home, exhausted, worn out, and cried out. I made the decision to his clean and rearrange his room, so when he comes home that he could be comfortable. This is about to be a rough week.
